you know how you know you’re a car guy? When you can see a VIN and know it’s a Miata, and you don’t even care for Miatas.

Good choice, the 6-speeds in those are supposedly smoother than the NB 6-speed and you get a LSD with it. Trunk space is down compared to the NB and I think the NA as well but having the 2.0L is nice. Black interior looks great, probably one of the better color combos I’ve seen.
Parting the NA or selling it whole?

You mean my Miata that needs an engine and paint, my Nissan that needs suspension, an engine rebuild, and paint, or my Riviera that needs a transmission, A/C compressor, power steering rack, front shocks, LIM gaskets and manifold, and paint?
Fuck it. I’m tired of working on cars and I’m moving someplace where me having more than one car is impractical at best, and I can’t work on them in the driveway. I want a car with decent paint, relatively modern, while still being fun. The NC or a nice NB checks all of those boxes, and this NC is the exact color I want. After selling my three cars I should be able to pay off the Miata by the end of the year.

Probably selling it whole. I need my cars gone fast. Probably gonna ask $2k for the Miata (bad engine but decent body, great interior, hardtop, freshly reupholstered seats, turbo bits, etc) and $1k for the Buick and $1k for the Nissan. See what I get out of them.

Last time I saw an Autocheck it found a bunch of stuff that didn’t show up on a CarFax, so it would be great if you could check for me.

Do the numbers matter? I only just recently learned the fact that FoSTs have ST2 and ST3. So whats an NC2 mean? Other than an NC Miata

Go for it. That hardtop alone is 900$ to 1k$, don’t let those facebook fuckers lowball you on it.

i guess i must have missed a few posts somewhere........... i didnt realize the miata was on borrowed time. is it turbo related??......... i remember you saying that the nissan had a phantom knock, but i thought you had put the suspension back under it??.............and i thought the riviera was getting the whole supercharged setup out from under that other one?.............. i thought you were having fun working on the stuff..........
now dont misunderstand me, your cars, your life, your business..........BUT wow, this just came outta nowhere...........

VIN-wise:
NC1 = no side airbags; non-US cars according to a quick search.
NC2 = side airbags; all US-spec Miatas got that in the VIN.
However, NC1, NC2, and NC3 are non-officially used to sort the third-generation by its two face-lifts. ‘05 to ‘08 being NC1, ‘09 to ‘12 being NC2, and the last two years of production being NC3.

Miata: When I got it it wouldn’t idle below 1200rpm. Would hard miss on one cylinder. I thought a tune up and stuff would fix it but it turned out to be garbage compression in one of the cylinders. I turbo’d it as a way to have some fun with a doomed engine, but at this point I’m just sick of looking at it.
Buick: Engine swap is going to be another $300 more than expected and won’t fix stuff like my steering, shocks, or the A/C compressor that grenaded today.
Nissan: After the flood I wasn’t home enough to get this adequately cleaned out and now it smells like mold. Still has a knock that may be piston slap, may be rod bearings. Not sure. Has done it for 2000 miles now without getting worse. Doesn’t have AC at all and now smells awful. I’m going to try getting rid of the mold next week when I get back from a trip, put new struts under it, drive it while I put brake pads on the Riviera, then sell it. $1000 for an easily rebuildable SR20 in a rare shell with... typical rust and brand new suspension. Hell of a deal, especially in Kansas where imports are 300x rarer than other places.
Also I just quit my job at the Chevy dealership and got one at Cybertron PC International as an RMA Service Technician. I fancy myself a competent tech and a good employee and there is an open management position that I could easily find myself filling in six months.
The real bitch is that I now have to go through the rigamarole of selling a damn car on craigslist THREE. TIMES. OVER. The Mustang was bad enough. Hopefully cheap cars will be easier.
